As an adult he moved to Northern California where he has been teaching and studying Martial Arts ever since. 35 years later having raised a family he now has second and 3rd generation students coming to the Dojo
STARTED EARLY IN LIFE
Born in Portsmouth England, my biological dad left us when I was 5 years old. Which I now know was quite traumatic for me, but it took close to 45 years to figure that out. My step dad came along at age 8. I had the reading age of a 5 year old at the time but due to his emphasis on education and a kind heart raised that to a 16 year old by age 10. I went from a welfare single parent environment to a much more middle class environment. After being bullied and ridiculed for years, my parents decided to have me give Martial Arts a try. Which ultimately changed the trajectory of my life.
HIS DREAM CAREER
At age 14 I was a silver service waiter, by 16 I had joined the British Army as a Royal Engineer. Serving 5 years in West Germany, The Falkland Islands and England. Where I was fortunate enough to study Boxing, Kick Boxing and multiple other Martial Arts systems. While deciding what to do next after my stint in Her Majesty’s Service I worked personal security. Night club security as well as construction jobs as a Journeyman Carpenter. After a short stint in the British Fire service I decided to buy a one way ticket to the USA with an old military buddy and see what happened. In just a short few months I was offered a position of chief Instructor for a major martial arts organization. Where I worked for a few more years before moving of on my own to become a business owner.
PERSONAL LIFE
My wife has 3 biological children, I Have 4 biological children. We have 2 adopted children plus have had numerous foster children over the years, giving us a very unique perspective on the child raising dynamic. These young lives have become our focus for many years combined with the thousands of martial arts students I have had the privilege to teach.

I would like to encourage any parent to bring their children or teenager to Manteca Martial Arts. Our son has been attending since he was in 3rd grade and is now 9th grade high school. Sensei Mark and Mrs.Jaimie are truly amazing and deeply care for everyone. Our son has matured and grown and learned to focus and persevere. Manteca Martial Arts in my opinion is truly a investment. Thanks again to Sensei Mark, and all other Sensei’s that work along his side at his dojo. Thank You .

My daughter has been going to classes here for about a year. She has grown and learned so much. She loves coming to karate class. She started out in the little kids class and she has now grown into the bigger kids class. She is thriving here. The Sensei’s are amazing and the classes are very disciplined but have so many fun aspects to them as well. We would recommend anyone join Manteca Martial Arts.

Before my daughter started attending Manteca Martial Arts she was taking dance classes which she wasn’t very interested in. As soon as she started the class dojo she was very excited and now can’t wait to go to class! She loves learning new techniques. And it has really helped her overcome her shyness.
